The Lavant Willow Shoulder Basket | Oak tanned Devon leather
Handwoven from natural willow and finished with custom oak-tanned leather straps made in Devon, The Lavant is a modern heirloom designed for everyday use and lasting beauty. Each basket is individually woven, celebrating the quiet irregularities that define true craft.
The richly coloured leather is cut and stitched by a leather worker using hides from Dartmoor cattle, tanned with oak bark by Britain's last traditional oak bark tannery in Colyton, Devon —where there has been a tannery on the site since Roman Britain. Their slow, heritage process gives the leather its depth of colour, strength, and distinctive ageing, developing a warm patina with wear.
Designed to sit comfortably on the shoulder or crossbody to leave hands free, The Lavant moves effortlessly from garden to market to daily life. Practical in form yet elevated in detail, it offers generous capacity without bulk, making it ideal for harvesting, foraging, shopping, or simply carrying the essentials. Balanced, durable, and quietly beautiful, this is a basket intended not for a season, but for years of use, becoming more characterful with every journey.
Why Bowerful?
Because some things should never be rushed. Each Lavant basket is woven by hand by a master basket maker, based on a heritage Irish basket from their own collection, then finished with individually crafted leather straps made in Devon from oak-tanned hides. With the chrome-free tanning taking weeks, not hours, and every piece made one by one, this is craftsmanship that simply can’t be mass produced.

We are happy to announce we now ship to Ireland, Germany, Netherlands, France, Belgium and Luxembourg for a flat rate of £43.
Your order should arrive 5–12 working days after dispatch (varies by country and customs processing times) We’ll email tracking details as soon as your parcel has been shipped.
Because we are a small UK business and not currently part of the IOSS scheme, VAT and duties are NOT included at checkout. Your local delivery provider may request: VAT at your country’s standard rate and a small customs handling/administration fee. These charges must be paid by the recipient for the parcel to be delivered.
Returns
We accept returns up to 21 days from the day your order is delivered.
We reserve the right to refuse any return on merchandise that does not meet our return requirements. We are unable to offer an exchange or refund on items that are deemed damaged upon return - scratched, worn or not in their original packaging. The customer is responsible for paying the return shipping cost. We cannot accept responsibility for parcels lost in transit.
We do not offer returns on vintage items (unless damage occurs in transit) due to the fact that all the pieces are entirely unique and will show wear consistent with age.
