Many of the most-loved items sold by Bowerful are not heavy, but are bulky. International shipping is priced by weight and volume. This means that shipping items with proper protection is expensive. We have partially subsidised international shipping to welcome international customers, but as a small business we are unable to heavily subsidise. We hope you understand.
Shipping FAQ
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship across the UK and to selected countries within the European Union. All orders are dispatched from the United Kingdom.
How long will my order take to arrive?
UK: 1–2 working days after dispatch EU: 5–12 working days after dispatch (varies by country and customs processing times) We’ll email tracking details as soon as your parcel has been shipped.
Will I have to pay customs fees or VAT when ordering from the EU?
Because we are a small UK business and not currently part of the IOSS scheme, VAT and duties are not included at checkout. Your local delivery provider may request: VAT at your country’s standard rate and a small customs handling/administration fee .These charges must be paid by the recipient for the parcel to be delivered.
Why do I have to pay VAT on delivery?
Since we are based in the UK, EU rules require VAT to be collected when goods enter the EU unless a business is registered for IOSS. We’re not yet enrolled in IOSS, so VAT is collected in your country upon arrival rather than at checkout.
How much will the fees be?
Fees vary by country. As a guide: VAT is usually around 19–25% depending on your country. Additionally an import fee of €12-15 is liable, which is charged by DHL, and any applicable duties. As an example, Sussex trugs and garden tools are NOT typically subject to additional duties on top of this, but ceramics and textiles are subject to 6-12%.
Can you mark my parcel as a gift to avoid fees?
Unfortunately no. We must declare the correct value and description of each item on customs forms by law.
What carriers do you use for EU shipping?
We use a mix of Royal Mail and DHL Express depending on the country and service selected. All EU orders are shipped on DDU/DAP terms (Delivery Duty Unpaid), which means VAT at your local rate, and fees are collected on arrival.
Can I track my order?
Yes. EU orders include full tracking wherever the service is supported. Once your parcel leaves the UK, tracking will update via your local postal provider or courier.
My parcel is stuck in customs — what should I do?
This usually means VAT/fees are waiting to be paid or the customs office needs additional information. Check your tracking link for instructions or contact your local delivery provider with your tracking number.
What happens if I don’t pay the customs fees?
If customs charges are refused, the parcel will be returned to us. Any return shipping costs and fees will be deducted from your refund.
Can I return items from an EU country?
Yes. Please contact us first so we can guide you through the return process. Return shipping costs from the EU are the responsibility of the customer unless the item is faulty or damaged.
My order arrived damaged or incorrect — what should I do?
Please email us within 7 days of delivery with photos of the issue. We will replace the item or arrange a refund as quickly as possible.

Change of mind returns
1) Package it carefully in the original packaging, and send it back at the address below. Please make sure your order number is written on the shipping label or outside of packaging.
2) Complete our short returns form here so that we can track and process your return.

Your item must be unused and in the same condition that you received it, in its original packaging and with the attached receipt or proof of purchase. Make sure the item is well protected when returning it to us, so that it is not damaged in transit. When the item is received, we will initiate a refund (please allow 4-7 business days), excluding the initial shipping cost.
Damaged Goods
If you are not entirely satisfied with your purchase, we’re here to help.
In the unfortunate case that your item(s) are damaged or broken in transit, please notify us within 5 days of receiving it at support@bowerful.com, attaching photos to the email, a brief description of the damage, the order number and shipping information. We understand how disappointing this can be and will do our absolute best to replace them as quickly as possible. Once we receive your email, we will follow-up with next steps. Please note, however, any faults reported after 5 days of receiving the item will be deemed as general wear and tear.
Returns Policy
Bowerful reserves the right to refuse any return on merchandise that does not meet our return requirements. We are unable to offer an exchange or refund on items that are deemed damaged upon return - scratched, worn or not in their original packaging. The customer is responsible for paying the return shipping cost. We cannot accept responsibility for parcels lost in transit.
