Early 20th century northern italian decoy duck
Authentic early 20th century decoy Pochard duck, wounded in action and all the more heroic and beautiful for it.
Likely northern Italian, he was hand carved and painted with care. His head has been left unpinned from his body, not by mistake, but to mimic the natural movement of a duck in the water when he's afloat.
Extensively battered, his paint has taken on a distressed patina, and there are paint losses in some areas from age. He's also suffered from bullet wounds to the chest and rear.
Great as a decorative accent piece.
