Vintage Folk Art Wooden Rocking Doll | Hand Shaped and Hand Painted Toy | Possibly Knockaloe Camp
A charming vintage folk art wooden, hand-painted rocking doll. Beautifully solid and worn, she feels lovely to pick up or gently rock from side-to-side, and has a warm presence to her.
She is very hard to definitively date, but there is a very similar example from around 1914 - 1918 made by German First World War POWs in the Knockaloe Camp in the the Isle of Man Museum. The prisoners produced them for the Quaker Relief Fund, who sold them to raise funds.
This piece is unmarked, although there is a darker patch on the base that could once have been a mark that has rubbed away.
For fellow lovers of folk art this is a dream piece.
Condition: Excellent. She has the perfect amount of timeworn age to her.

Returns
We accept returns up to 21 days from the day your order is delivered.
We reserve the right to refuse any return on merchandise that does not meet our return requirements. We are unable to offer an exchange or refund on items that are deemed damaged upon return - scratched, worn or not in their original packaging. The customer is responsible for paying the return shipping cost. We cannot accept responsibility for parcels lost in transit.
